Daily Matchups for 7/23/2016
Max Scherzer- Chalk play of the day? Most likely yes. Mad Max is facing the Padres who, as we've said before, are absolutely terrible against right-handed pitching. Scherzer has done extremely well against them lifetime as he has held them to a .140 BA (17 for 21) with a 24.1% K-Rate, 6.8% W-Rate, a 3.26 FIP, 31 Strikeouts, 24 ground outs, 23 flyouts, 11 pop outs, with 9 walks, and 3 HRs. He's extremely expensive but he will for sure get you 50+ FP today.
Chris Sale- He's an elite pitcher and has had success against the Tigers during his tenure to the tune of a .260 BA (56 for 215) with a 19.8 K%, 9.5 W%, 48 Ks, 43 groundouts, 40 singles, 31 flyouts, 19 walks, 10 HRs. Sale honestly could be more of a GPP option with the Tigers' offense against him but they have been non-existent lately.
John Lackey- He's not a sexy name, but he's got a great matchup and he's been doing really well this season with the help of this Cubs' offense. Lackey has held the Brewers to a .250 BA (23 for 92) a 25.5% K-Rate, 6.1% W-Rate with 25 Ks, 17 singles, 16 groundouts, 12 fly outs and only 1 HR given up. Brewers strike out a ton this season and Lackey could go towards a 10 K game.
Ivan Nova- He is facing a Giants team that he has had success against in the past. Nova has the ability to strike batters out and I think that's exactly what will happen today. He's held the Giants to a .161 BA (5 for 31) with a 25 K% and 8 Ks along with 7 groundouts, 6 flyouts, and only 2 extra base hits (doubles). He should go under-owned and that could bode well for our DFS team.
Victor Martinez- He's absolutely dominated Chris Sale in their matchups. V-Mart has 18 hits in 36 ABs including 11 singles, 3 doubles, 4 HRS and only 5 Ks. He's almost a must-play in cash games today.
Kurt Suzuki- Another cheap option to allow for us to pay up at pitcher today. Suzuki has 7 hits in 33 ABs with 4 doubles, 1 HR, 6 RBIs but 11 Ks. He's cheap and is more of a GPP lineup.
Salvador Perez- He's facing Hamels so he might only be a GPP play today. He's only faced Hamels twice and doesn't have a hit but he does have a walk. He should be less than 5% owned since he is going up against Hamels today.
Chris Gimenez- Very cheap option, and hasn't seen much of Kevin Gausman but Gimenez is 1 for 3 with a HR. Not much here but a cheap option to allow you to pay up.
Dioner Navarro- Facing Matt Boyd, he's only seen him for 2 plate appearances, and he's 1 for 1 with a HR and a walk. Not much here other than Navarro is a minimum priced option behind the dish against a pitcher who is sporting a 4.91 ERA with 14 walks and 34 Ks in 8 games and 40 innings pitched.
Edwin Encarnacion- Expensive, but could hit a BOOMstick shot for us today. EE has seen Iwakuma 11 PAs with 3 hits in 9 ABs including a HR, run, 4 RBIs and 2 walks. He's primed for a big day Saturday.
Chris Davis- He's facing Josh Tomlin who has struggled at times this season and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Orioles chase him and dominate him. Davis is more of a GPP play every time because the fact that he strikes out so much.
Justin Turner- He's absolutely on fire lately (2 HRs on Thursday) and now he gets to face Mike Leake who has been one of the most inconsistent pitchers and he's also under $4k on FD? YES PLEASE.
Chase Headley- He's 5 for 13 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, 4 walks and a .385 BA vs. Jeff Samardzija.
Adam Jones- He's 8 for 15 with 4 doubles and a HR against Josh Tomlin. These numbers jump out especially for his price. Use him in both cash and GPPs today.
George Springer- For some reason, no matter where I read DFS things at, they don't tend to suggest Springer much and that's why here at DailyRotoHelp we bring you better picks and strategy. We absolutely love Springer against Jered Weaver today. He's 8 for 18 with a double and 2 HRs, 5 runs, 3 RBIs, 1 walk and a .444 BA. I have a feeling he will be under-owned for some reason today.
Mike Trout- I feel he's going fishing today. What's he fishing for? BOOMstick shots is what. He's had Collin McHugh's number throughout their matchups. Trout is 6 for 17 with 2 doubles, a triple, 2 HRs, 4 runs, 4 RBIs and a SB to go along with a .353 BA. Love Love Love him today.
Steven Souza Jr.
Danny Santana- Make sure he plays, but he has 5 hits in 19 ABs with 2 doubles and a triple against Price. HE also has 9 strikeouts so this is more of a GPP only play tonight.
STACKS OF THE DAY
We like a lot of stacks today. Really some poor pitching to take advantage of today.
You can find the new and improved lineups page at the website above! We are very proud to bring you tons of great info and lineups each day!
REMEMBER: These are lineups we use, but feel free to pick and choose plays and make your own lineups. Don’t ALWAYS follow these as they don’t hit 100% of the time. We do use these but sometimes late scratches happen and it’s too late to update the lineup. Good luck and bring home the bacon.
